Plumber in Collingwood, for the house that sits empty all week

Half the plumbing calls on this shoreline start the same way: a chalet, a cottage or a weekend house, a cold snap, and nobody inside to hear the pipe let go. Collingwood Plumbers works on that problem first, and on the ordinary ones too: drains, water heaters, sump pumps, wells and the town-water side of every house from Wasaga Beach to Meaford.

  • Town water or a private well, asked on the first call
  • A rented water heater goes back to its owner, and we say so
  • No arrival time promised that nobody here can keep

What you get before anybody is booked

Three promises before anybody books a job

Every plumber in the county will say they can help. These are the parts Collingwood Plumbers owes you whether or not the job comes here.

The water supply is the first question

Town water and a private well fail in different places. Collingwood Plumbers asks which one you are on before guessing at anything else.

A house in Collingwood draws from Nottawasaga Bay through the town plant. A house in Wasaga Beach draws from town wells. A farmhouse outside Creemore draws from its own well and its own pump. "No water" means three different jobs across those three houses.

We say when the job belongs to somebody else

A rented water heater is serviced by the company that owns it. A pump inside a well needs a licensed well technician. You hear that on the first call.

Plenty of Ontario houses rent the water heater. When the tank is rented, the rental company is the right first call and the call costs you nothing. Saying so loses Collingwood Plumbers a job, and it is still the right answer.

An answer within one business day

Every enquiry gets a reply within one business day, with what the problem most likely is and what fixing it involves.

Collingwood Plumbers does not print an arrival time, because nobody here can keep one yet. For water that is running right now, close the main shut-off first. That step is yours and it works faster than any truck.

None of these is about the repair itself. The workmanship warranty belongs on the quote and it is worth reading. These are what you get before you have decided anything.

What we do

Ten plumbing jobs, and the calendar decides half of them

Frozen pipes and shutdowns in the cold months, sump pumps and backwater valves in the spring melt, wells and water heaters all year. No prices are printed: no measured price band exists for this work here yet, so every job is quoted on site.

Where the water comes from, town by town

Every row below comes from the municipality’s own drinking-water reports. Not one appears on a plumbing page written for the whole province, and every one changes what a plumber should ask first.

WhereWater comes fromWho runs itWhat it means for plumbing
Collingwood Nottawasaga Bay, intake about 765 m offshore Town of Collingwood, Raymond A. Barker membrane plant built in 1998; the town also supplies New Tecumseth Surface water: soft on fixtures, cold in winter
Wasaga Beach Six town wells at two pumphouses Treatment run by the Ontario Clean Water Agency, distribution by the Town; sodium silicate added for iron Groundwater with iron; sand and a high water table under the slab
The Blue Mountains Georgian Bay, Thornbury plant on Peel Street Town of The Blue Mountains, with a supplemental supply from Collingwood Serviced in Thornbury and the main villages; wells on the rural lots
Stayner Four township wells Township of Clearview; iron control at treatment; supply at its available capacity New hookups wait on capacity; older town houses on groundwater
Creemore Two township wells Township of Clearview Village on town water, farms around it on private wells
Meaford Georgian Bay intake Municipality of Meaford; plant first built 1959/60, UV added in 2002 Town on bay water, rural Meaford on private wells
Everywhere else A private well The owner; pump installs need a Class 4 well technician under Regulation 903 No water at the tap can be a pump, a pressure switch or a frozen line

Where we work

Five municipalities, and each gets its water a different way

Collingwood draws from Nottawasaga Bay through a membrane plant. Wasaga Beach draws from six town wells. Thornbury has its own Georgian Bay plant on Peel Street. Stayner and Creemore run on township wells. Meaford has a bay intake dating to 1959. Past the edge of each serviced area, the house has its own well and its own pump.

What customers say

No reviews yet, and none invented

This site is new. There is nothing here yet.

Reviews will appear here once there are real ones, with the town beside each. Until then, judge Collingwood Plumbers on whether these pages tell you something a plumbing page written two hours away could not: where your town gets its water, who owns the tank in your basement, and why the pipe leaks at the thaw and not on the cold night.

FAQ

What people ask a plumber around Collingwood

Do you charge to come out?

Collingwood Plumbers quotes the visit before anybody drives anywhere, and the quote names what the visit includes. No price list is printed on this site, because no measured price band for plumbing work in this area exists yet and an invented one would mislead you.

Is my house on town water or a well?

If you pay a water bill to the municipality, you are on town water. If there is a pressure tank in the basement and no water bill, you are on a private well. Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Thornbury, Stayner, Creemore and Meaford all have town systems; outside the serviced areas most houses have their own well.

My pipes froze. What do I do right now?

Close the main shut-off first, so a split pipe cannot flood the house when the ice thaws. Open a cold tap near the frozen section. Warm the pipe gently with a hair dryer or warm air, never an open flame. If the pipe is inside a wall or ceiling, leave the main closed and call a plumber.

Who fixes a rented water heater?

The company that owns it. A rented tank carries a sticker with the owner’s name and number, and the rental agreement covers its repair. Call them first. Collingwood Plumbers works on owned water heaters and on everything around the tank: the shut-off, the supply lines and the drain.

Do I need a permit for plumbing work?

Most new plumbing and most changes to the drain system need a building permit from your municipality under the Ontario Building Code. Replacing a fixture in the same place usually does not. Ask the building department in your town before work starts, and ask the plumber who will apply for it.

Who can work on my well pump?

Installing a pump in a well is well work under Ontario Regulation 903, and the person doing it needs a Class 4 well technician licence. The pressure tank, the pressure switch and the house plumbing past the tank are ordinary plumbing. Ask which side of that line the problem is on before anybody pulls the pump.

Can you come right now?

Collingwood Plumbers does not promise an arrival time, because nobody here can honestly keep one yet. Every enquiry gets an answer within one business day. For water running right now, close the main shut-off first: that single step stops more damage than any truck.

Talk to a Collingwood plumber

Collingwood Plumbers needs three things: the town, whether the house is on town water or a private well, and what the water is doing. Those three decide most of the job, from who you should actually call, to whether the fix is a valve, a pump or a pipe.
